SIMPLE COMPOST BINS

Your compost pile can look like this or you can build a simple compost bin.
This is a simple compost bin made from half inch hardware cloth. To make it all you have to do is cut a ten foot long piece of 36 inch wide hadware cloth .It can be wired together or use wire ties or twine. On this one I fastened two  one inch strips of wood to the ends of the wire with fence staples and then used wire ties to hold it together. When it time to turn the pile ,I just cut the wire ties and peal it away from the pile and set it up next to it and just shovel back in.

This simple compost bin uses the same idea as the wire bin above, a friend build it with scraps from a local mill . The boards are connected together using electrical wire fastened with fencing staples. Just untie the wires and peal it away from the pile when your ready to turn it.

This simple compost bin below i built from some two foot long scraps of wood. There are two by two inch posts in the corners to fasten the boards too. They are fastened with screws. When its ready to turn ,i just take the boards off on one side and remove the box.

If you live in an area that rains a lot,or in winter its a good idea to make a cover for your compost so that it doesnt get too wet . A lid can be fashioned from a piece of plywood or plastic tarp.
